I recently found some pics from a final ride I took in 2024. I've added this entry into sequence of the blog, as it occurred.
And so it was... that there was one final stretch of global warming weather to be had for a final ride of the season. And that day was, Halloween.
So on a day that as a kid myself, I lost a snow boot running through the woods in a couple feet of snow (long story; my father was not amused) one where I have many pictures from over the years with snow and ice on the decorations, or the weather too cold, windy and rainy for very many trick or treaters to bother going out (easier to stay home and eat what no one was coming to their own door to get...), it was a warm, sunny day.
It was nearly 70 degrees by 11:00, which could be one of the 7 signs of the apocalypse. I've always maintained that if it was dry and the temp was above 60 degrees, I had to go out and ride. It's the law.
So I took the Road King out for a ride. Autumn in the North East was pretty much over in the sense that nearly all of the leaves had turned from vibrant colors to a kinda sad brown. But there were still some hanging on, and of course the smell of the leaves on the warm air as I rode along.
Whenever I have a couple of hours to spend, I often make the circuit out to and around the reservoir, so no surprise: another bike at a lake pic follows.
All of these decades flash by and I am transported back to the sights, sounds and smells of riding a dirt bike in the woods as a kid, on a warm autumn day.
Get out and ride. Be safe.
